Hi there! My name is Mrs. Stacey Reed and I teach 7th grade life science on the Carson Team. I am also one of the House Leaders. This is my fourth year at Wayland Middle, teaching life science, but my 10th year of teaching overall.
I graduated from Wellesley College with a degree in Environmental Studies, and a master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston University. Teachers are never done with school though, and I am always taking some sort of class and learning, learning, learning.
I love teaching and learning about science. I also like learning from hard problems. This goofy picture of me is from a trip to the science museum with some friends where we were testing trampoline designs. I wanted to put lots of rubber bands on to make it extra bouncy, but I learned my hypothesis was incorrect, and the evidence showed more bands actually reduced the elasticity! I used the evidence to make a new prototype, and my trampoline bounced a ball thrown at it nearly a meter more!
Students in the past will probably say I like robots, octopodes, hemoglobin (and other fun words to say), bats (the animals), symbiosis, learning German, tungsten (which in German is "wolfram"), science-themed T-shirts, and helping people to solve problems by using technology. I also love to read, and my new Mrs. Reed's Reads page is now up.
